Bucculatrix nigricomella

A quick look at the young leaves of the Oxeye Daisies in our hay meadow produced the mine of the moth Bucculatrix nigricomella.

Psychoides verhuella

Today, whilst walking at the nearby DWT Scanniclift Copse, I came across the larvae of either Psychoides verhuella or P. filicivora on Hart's-tongue Fern. I took home a larva to confirm the species. As its head, prothoracic plate and anal plate were black I can safely call it Psychoides verhuella.

Coleophora juncicolella

Yesterday was I went out to our nearest heather moorland area and swept it with the intention on finding some Coleophora juncicolella larval cases. At the time I could not find any, but I left the sweepings in a tub overnight and by morning there were two at the top of the pot by the lid. Also swept was a Drinker larva.
